Fishing
Kite Cottage is the perfect base for a fishing holiday being centrally located amongst a host of the south of England’s leading commercial fisheries. There are also numerous smaller local club waters all of which are fishable year round (with the exception of the rivers – March till June) on day or weekly permits. All offer a wide variety of fishing from specimen hunting for large Carp and Catfish on one of the many lakes to Chub, Barbel and Pike fishing on the beautiful river Stour and Cale.
There is also fishing within walking distance of the cottage, please ask for details.
Do not forget that a valid Environment Agency licence is required before fishing. Get your rod licence here or by going to any post office. Happy Fishing!

Walking
There are many footpaths round Kite Cottage and the surrounding Blackmore Vale provides stunning views and breathtaking walks. If walking is ‘your thing’ then a trip out past Zeals on the A303 to take in the totally stunning views from the top of the ridge followed by lunch at the Spread Eagle by Stourhead House (NT) is an absolute must!

Sturminster Newton is in easy reach, just a half hour walk from the cottage along the old halter path just a few yards from the door. Several other walks to Hinton St Mary and Cutt Mill on the River Stour to name just a couple of destinations are easily started from Kite Cottage’s front door!
